New American Champion!!

We at Cairnisle are so pleased to announce that Dallas (Gch Cairnisles Sharp Dressed Man) Is now an American Champion.  We went to Ann Arbor Michigan  March 8-10  where Dallas picked up his second 5 point major on Saturday, and his third 5 point Major on Sunday as well as Best of Breed  over 80 Cairn Terriers including Specials from the Bred By class. We are so proud of Dallas, and plan to take him out the rest of this year as well to see if we can capture #1 Cairn in Canada for a second time!

UPDATE

2018 was a quiet year for Dallas. We took a break from the show ring for him, and focused instead on Nike, (Cairnisle Runs With Wolves).  Nike did not disappoint. his first show in 2018, Nike went Best of Breed at the AKC winter classic second day in, and Winners Dog the third day. All in all we finished Nike in 3 weekends, and he now  has his Canadian Championship.
we did make one weekend exception for Dallas in 2018, and that was for the AKC Summer Classic. Dallas was entered into the CTCC regional show under Breeder Judge Margaret Jones, and won Best of Breed at this Specialty. Dallas still had his Mojo!

We are looking forward to great things from this boy!

We are so pleased to announce that Dallas won The 2015 CTCC National Specialty Under Respected Breeder Judge Ann Waugh.
She had wonderful remarks about Dallas in her Critique of him:

Here is my evaluation of Dallas as I saw him on the day I judged

A beautifully headed Cairn with a typical expression, deep stop, small well positioned ears and dark eyes. Correct coat, flowing neckline into a level topline with good tailset, topped by a bala...

Stupid things dogs do to the people who love them

Posted by Cairnisle Cairn Terriers on Friday, October 10, 2014,
A couple of months ago, we almost lost Dallas.  Scare from hell.  Woke up  in the morning and let Dallas and Maddie ( our new baby) out from the ir crates.  They ran to the kitchen knowing it was breakfast time.  Dallas as always wolfed down his food, and instantly went into spasms.  I knew instantly this was a bad thing as he was crying and trying to hide from the pain.

I called the Vet, rushed him in, and they did all sorts of tests, but could see nothing wrong, I left him there  all day, ...

Dallas is New Champion

Posted by Cairnisle Cairn Terriers on Tuesday, August 5, 2014,
We had a great weekend, as always, at the AKC shows at the beautiful Spruce Meadows facility in Calgary Alberta. If any of you have not been there you should give it a try sometime, the yards are landscaped wo precisely, all the grounds are level, no tripping over hills or holes as many sites fall prey to.

Anyhow I digress, this is about Dallas today.  I would love to introduce  CanCh Cairnisles Sharp Dressed Man who finished his Canadian Ch under Judge Jack Ireland

Dallas's First dog show

Posted by Cairnisle Cairn Terriers on Thursday, November 7, 2013,
Great weekend for Dallas, his first show and Dallas won Best of winners for 2 points. This  boy gave me all he had, and showed like a trooper.  The second day we were blindsided by a snowstorm and the competition could not make it to Red Deer, so no points that day.  So we waited for the snow to stop and headed home.

After white knuckling it all the way home, we finally made it safely  and unpacked and relaxed for a bit.

I swear I did not leave Dallas unattended  for too long and by the time I ...

Dallas... Puppy from Hell

Posted by Cairnisle Cairn Terriers on Friday, October 18, 2013,
Ok Dott left me with a very naughty boy. He has figured out chairs, and that they can be used for more then just laying on and as tools for his nefarious deeds. No longer satisfied with jumping on them he now pushes them around to do his bidding...

Pushes chair to counter jumps on counter. (this we did not see, but we found foot prints on the counter, so it is factual, as to him having any conversations with said chair, this is fiction, lol.)  Pushing  chair to table, jumps up and l...

My husband dropped it off in the kitchen thinking I would take care of it and put it away. And I had every intention of doing that, till...I got distracted. Came back 15 minutes later to an absolute disater.  Sugar all over my floor,  and  Parker and Willow with bellies so full of sugar they were ready to burst.  What took 15 minutes to ...

Posted by Cairnisle Cairn Terriers on Sunday, June 26, 2011,
This weekend I went to Grande Prairie for the dog show.I was letting a Handler take her in to see  what he could do with her as opposed to my handling.  He handled her well, but we did not win. This is ok, it is part of the game.  Later on he asked if he could remove some of her dead coat, I said yes (and she did have some dead hair in her, actually quite a lot, we were in transition, and I was trying to keep coat on her until her new coat was a proper length)  and watched how he was going to...

There has been a big debate on spaying and neutering your pets. When is the best time before 6 months or later when the pet is mature. My feelings on this is the later the better.  In Dogs in Canada, ther is a wonderful article about neutering your dog too young.

I am very very proud of my girl, and I will keep on trying to grab that Brass Ring!

Counting down for Dott

Finished blocking all other entrances today. Blocked one,  she made another, she is determined.  She  dug a small hole and squeezed herself through it, and managed with no problem. So today we got out the cement blocks and 2x6 boards and  closed off any possible place she could go. We then set up the ex-pen outside so she could not  go to the side of the garage and find a new place..  Hopefully now this is done with. She is not a happy puppy about it either.

She can't jump on the bed anymore even though she is part goat, she has gotten to large for that.

She is out daily getting her "new home" ready for moving day, we are sealing it off tomorrow.  Her room is now ready for her to take up residence, and soon she will be very comfortable in it and resting easy in it.

She figures she is going to have them out side I am saying no. So we are at a loggerhead.  She goes out at night to dig, not during the day so we do not see her. Yes we are having Babies

Posted by Cairnisle Cairn Terriers on Saturday, September 25, 2010,
Seems we are going to be having babies at the end of October. I was planning on Breeding Pippen, but Dott had other plans, and decided she wanted to have Babies instead.  I have to say it is all my fault but not intentional.  Due to the fact that I had just come back from vacation I was not aware of how far she was along in her season. What I considered a few days turns out to have been much further along, and I let her and Davy out in the back yard together, and they did the hokey pokey, and...
